6.6 Phase VI Work Effort

      This phase will be the last phase of the research program involving research activities. Phase VII will be strictly dedicated to preparation of the final documentation. The primary objective of Phase VI will be to establish contact with my Higher Genius or my True Self, as Jung would say. Aleister Crowley uses the phrase "to obtain to the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel*".

      At this time it is impossible to delineate any of the specific efforts which will comprise Phase VI except to say that each of the five task areas used in the first five phases of the research program will also be used in Phase VI. Therefore, analytical thinking and general knowledge, artistic creativity, meditation, ritual Magick, and parapsychology will be inlcuded in Phase VI. Since each interim report and briefing generated at the end of each phase of effort will contain information regarding plans for each subsequent phase of effort (see Section 6.0), the interim report and briefing for Phase V will to some degree provide the specifics of Phase VI. It must be emphasized, however, that due to the nature of Phase VI, it must assume a very fluid and adaptive format.

      The entire period of Phase VI will constitute a ritual which will be based on the IXth Tarot Trump which is entitled "The Hermit". I will occupy a place of residence for the six months of Phase VI which will allow me to be as completely isolated from my fellow man as possible within the constraints imposed by financial considerations. Such works as "The Book of the Sacred Magick of Abra-Melin" translated and edited by S.L. MacGregor Mathews from manuscripts in the British Museum, and Aleister Crowley's "Magick In Theory and Practice", and his ten volume "Equinox" will be used as reference material for designing the ritual.

      The first five phases of effort are simply the preparation for the work to be performed in Phase VI. In the same since that a few grains of sand will serve as the catalyst to rapidly and dramatically trigger the formation of ice particles in liquid water which has been cooled to just above the freezing point, Phase VI will function as a final force acting on a well prepared medium to affect a thorough manifestation of the uroboric process. Phase VI will therefore involve my initiation into the Mysteries of nature whatever they may be, good and bad, pleasant and unpleasant, beautiful and ugly. The momentum established as a result of the work accomplished in Phases I through V will serve to carry me through the difficult periods of Phase VI.

*I assume, but do not know for a fact, that it was my Holy Guardian Angel that aided me in my combat with Ashtaroth (see Section 4.4). Whatever the case may be, it is a far cry from being aided by a mysterious being to having knowledge of that being and having conversation with it.
