TAARP - The Corridors of Time - 5.1 Analytical Thinking and General Knowledge

5.1 Analytical Thinking and General Knowledge

This area of effort will involve the scientific intellect. Jungian Psychology, History, Comparative Religion, Comparative Mythology, and Qabalistic Symbolism will be the key elements.

The following works are examples of the reference material to be used for this area of concentration:

  1. Carl Jung - Collected Works including "Psychology and Alchemy" and "Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious".
  2. Will and Ariel Durant - "The Story of Civilization" (10 volumes including Vol. I: "Our Oriental Heritage", Vol. II: Greece, and Vol. III: "Caesar and Christ").
  3. E. A. Wallis Budge - "A History of Egypt" (4 volumes), "Osiris and the Egyptian Resurrection" (2 volumes), "The Gods of the Egyptians. (2 volumes), "Egyptian Magic", "Amulets and Talismans".
  4. Joseph Campbell: "The Mythic Image", "The Way of the Animal Powers", "The Masks of God" (4 volumes: "Primitive Mythology", "Oriental Mythology", "Occidental Mythology", "Creative Mythology").
  5. Robert Graves - "The White Goddess", "The Greek Myths".
  6. Aleister Crowley - "The Book of Thoth" and accompanying Tarot cards, "777", "The Equinox" (10 volumes).

The basic objective of this area of effort is to review my knowledge of and further educate myself on the history and evolution of the archetypes of the collective unconscious. For example, in order to gain insight into the archetype of the Mother Goddess I would first study references to her in Jung's writings and in other Jungian works such as Erich Neumann's "The Great Mother" and "The Origins and History of Consciousness". The next step would be to review the history of the ancient Western world in references such as Will Durant's "Our Oriental Heritage". The theoretical and practical foundations required to properly interpret mythological data on The Mother Goddess would have therefore been established. Mythological facts on the many forms of the Mother Goddess from such works as those of E. A. Wallis Budge quoted above would then be studied. A comparative mythological assessment and overview of the Mother Goddess from sources like Robert Graves' "The White Goddess" and Joseph Campbell's "The Masks of God" would next be studied. The final stage in the intellectual investigation of the archetype of The Mother Goddess would be to study her various manifestations in Crowley's and Harris' Tarot cards, and to study the many correspondences which are correlated with her various forms in Crowley's "777".
