The Art of Fred Howard III
Block 13: Abstract Art by Fred E. Howard III
(FEH III NOTE: The entire TAARP website can be viewed as nothing more than the story behind the evolution of Fred E. Howard III's symbolic/abstract art. This is particularly true for Blocks 11 and 12, which comprise "The Corridors of Time" material. This material deals with Mr. Howard's early mythological investigations. For biographical information on Mr. Howard see Block 10: Why TAARP is Unique.)
The abstract art presented here is divided into three sections:
There are several things that are interesting to me about my art:
- How my artistic talent evolved from absolutely nothing to something is a story in itself.
- Figure 1 and Figure 2 of my Magickal Record of Appendix E of Section IV of Block 12: The Corridors of Time (Itself) clearly demostrate that in 1975 my artistic talent was nil at best. This first attempt at art was specfically involved with an effort to begin to study The Formula for the Philospher's Stone which is "Out of man and woman make a round circle and extract the quadrangle from this, and from the quadrangle the triangle. Make a round circle and you will have the philospher's stone.", from the Rosarium. (See "Psychology and Alchemy", pages 124-138, vol. 12, "The Collected Works of Carl G. Jung".)
- By 1978, as indicated by Slide 7 of the Early Period, I could produce art that I liked and other people liked.
- The evolution of my abstract artistic ability was synergistically intertwined with my Occult research.
- I really call my art "symbolic/abstract art". I feel that it lies at the "edge of chaos". It is as if it is trying to break through from random chaos to firm structure and form. Perhaps it falls in the Abyss of the Qabalistic Tree of Life between the three supernal sephiroth and the six sephiroth of the RAUCH. (See Aleister Crowley's many writings on the Abyss and the mighty Demon of Dispersion, Choronzon, who inhabits the Abyss, and in particular see his "The Vision and The Voice", 10th Aethyr.)
- I am a firm believer in the power of art. Numerous times over the past twenty-five years I have severely damaged my mind through excessive combined use of sex, marijuana and caffeine. In particular, in these sessions, which sometime went on day after day for a month or more with only small breaks, I often did serious damage to my ego (i.e., the I-ness in me, the thing that is "I" in me). Then, I would reconstruct myself by doing art. Specifically, the piece labeled "New Six" (Slide 19 of the Early Period) was done to specifically restore my sanity after a sex-marijuana-caffeine blitz. The reason I named it "New Six" was that at the time the recovery really took hold I had a dream that simply said "New Six". I knew immediately what it meant. Six is the primary number of the Rauch in Qabalistic terminology, and the Rauch is the mind. Also, six is the primary number of the Sun, which is consciousness.
Prior to viewing the art, I recommend reading a poem I wrote in 1977 titled "The Corridors of Time". In my opinion, the poem sets the mood for the art.
